Siit sit tarkastelemaan kaupungin marjalintupaikkoja paremman puutteessa, matkalla autosta näky itelle uus hiiripöllö Tuorsniemen nurkilla.
Päärnäisten koristeomenoilla ruokaili 18 tilhen partti. Hyvin näytti koristeomppu maistuvan, mutta kokonaisina eivät uponneet vaan vain sisukset kelpasivat appeeksi.
I went to check if there's any gulls at Santakangas landfill after some christmas-shopping. There wasn't. On my way back I noticed the 16th Hawk Owl of the autumn on a roadside pile.
Päärnäinen hosted a flock of 18 Waxwings and I just needed to take few photos as the sun was shining so nicely (first time for days).
After Waxwing-photosession I needed my gull-dose and fortunately there was some 700 Herring and 40 Greater Black-backed Gulls in the river nearby the city center of Pori. However, nothing too interesting amongst them. Some 50 Mealy Redpolls were feeding nearby in industrial area but the flock took of before I managed to find any Arctics.
Hanhiluodon carduelipotti myös yhä aloillaan. Arvoin satakunta tikliä ja reilu puolet vähemmän hemppoja, seuranaan yksinäinen vuorihemppo. Jo autoon pakkaduttuani hoksasin Aittaluodon lokkien suuntaavan Hanhiluodon yli yöpuulle ja nousinkin vielä tarkastamaan heitä. Likipitäin samantien löytyikin kaunis nuori isolokki parin sadan argarin joukosta. Ja sit kotio.
There's been a nice Carduelis-flock in Hanhiluoto fields and I thought there might be some photographic opportunities as sun was still "high". The regular Hawk Owl stole my attention as I noticed it was ridiculously tame. It allowed me to approach down to five meters and still it was totally ignorant of my presence! Only time it got vary was when Rough-legged Buzzard took of from the nearby field.
The finch flock was still there but no new arrivals (100 Goldfinches, 40 Linnets and one Twite). I was already in my car heading to home when I noticed that the gulls from the river where going to roost in sea (already at 14.15!). I decided to check them once more and found immediately a 1cy Glaucous Gull. Nice ending for a short birding day.
